Strengthening our community and our schools through advocacy, information, and education.
We believe that government at all levels is best able to represent and serve the people when they uphold the highest ideals of transparency.
"The liberties of a people never were, nor ever will be, secure, when the transactions of their rulers may be concealed from them."
We believe that effective government acknowledges and assumes responsibility for its actions, decisions, and policies and has the responsibility to report, explain, and be answerable for resulting consequences.
"A true patriot does not confuse government with country. A patriot's loyalty is to his country. And loyalty to country requires holding government accountable."
-Paul Craig Roberts
We believe that government earns and sustains public trust by serving the public interest, using powers responsibly, acting with honesty and transparency, and making decisions without bias.
"Public confidence in the integrity of the Government is indispensable to faith in democracy; and when we lose faith in the system, we have lost faith in everything we fight and spend for."
Loma Prieta Taxpayers Association (LPTA) for Government Transparency and Accountability is a non-partisan group loosely affiliated with several statewide and local taxpayer advocacy groups. Our focus is on serving our community, our schools, and our kids by encouraging good governance at the local level. We promote values of limited government, transparency, accountability, and integrity at all levels. We strive to do this by advocating for openness by our local government through communication with our elected officials and by leveraging legislation designed to keep government transparent. We seek to provide information to the community on how our local government operates and to educate the community on the rights, roles, and responsibilities of citizens and government alike.
